Criteria

Your site will be judged for an award using the following criteria. If you can score at least 70 points your site may be ready.

Site is required to be "family friendly", this is my main criteria. Having a rating such as SafeSurf, ICRA, ICCS, etc. as a plus, but also be coded as such and not just a "borrowed" graphic. <> 10 Points

Functionality:
How well does your site function. A good navigation plan works best from a simple text menu to whatever you can imagine in your mind as long as it works. <> 10 Points

Is there some sort of central theme and not have every page looking like an individual site itself? <> 10 Points

If you use frames, they need to "work" and getting trapped within the frames is not acceptable. <> 10 Points

Graphics:
Try to at least attempt to create some of your own graphics as there are a lot of free and demo programs out there and it also gives you a good feeling of accomplishment. <> 10 Points

Did you use alt tags to describe the images and graphics on your site? (alt, title, height and width) <> 10 Points

Text needs to be readable with background, and not so small that it can't be seen without squinting. <> 10 Points

Usefulness:
Web pages that just go nowhere like a page full of pictures of your pet, neighbors cutting the grass, etc. may interest you, but ask yourself "what would others like to see". <> 10 Points

Miscellaneous:
Is your site compatable with more than one browser such as Firefox, Opera, Safari? <> 5 Points

Flash sites on the other hand do take longer and visitors will understand that. A standard screen resolution is 1024x768 so sites should be built along those rules. <> 5 Points

Do you have a privacy policy? <> 5 Points

Do you have a copyright statement? <> 5 Points
